Getting Started
Connect to Slack
To connect your Amplitude account with Slack, open the settings page found in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen and click "Connect Account". You will then be guided through the authentication flow to connect your Amplitude and Slack accounts.
Adding @amplitude to Slack
Once you have authorized the Amplitude Bot, you will need to invite the Bot to all channels you would like to share and preview Amplitude links in. To do so, simply type /invite @amplitude in any Slack channel or start a group message that includes @Amplitude.
If you invite @amplitude to a private channel, Slack will ask you to clarify that you actually want to invite @amplitude.
Click "Yes, show channel history" and the Amplitude Bot will unfurl all future links to Charts, Dashboards, and Cohorts. Pathfinder, Compass, and Persona chart types will not unfurl.
Turn On Link Previews
If a Shareable Link doesn't unfurl when you post it in Slack, it may be because you have not turned on Link Previews in your Slack settings. Here are Slack's instructions on how to do so:
- In the top-left corner, click on your name to open the Team Menu.
- Select Preferences.
- In the left-hand menu, select Messages & Media.
- In the Inline Media & Links section, check the "Show images..." or "Show text previews..." options.
Interacting With Slack Messages
Our Slack integration also allows you to take action on some objects by using Slack Message Buttons.
For example, you can pin a Dashboard to your sidebar for quick access in Amplitude or add saved Charts to Dashboards that you own through Slack.
Receive Amplitude Comments directly in Slack
After connecting your Slack account to Amplitude, you will receive Slack notifications when you are @ mentioned in an Amplitude comment or a comment is left on any content you own.
Use this integration to quickly get questions answered about your analysis, share an insight, or leave notes to self.
This integration makes Amplitude comments immediately actionable. You can use the content link within the Slack message to quickly access the Amplitude chart, dashboard, or notebook referenced.
You can also use this integration to leave reminders or notes for yourself. Simply @ mention your own Amplitude account, and you will receive a Slack notification.
Connect with Team Spaces
Connect Amplitude Team Spaces to specific Slack channels to receive notifications when your team creates new analyses. When new content gets added to that team space in Amplitude, it will automatically be posted in the Slack channel. Click the "Connect with Slack" button from a Team Space to set this up:
