We built the Search tab to increase visibility into what other users in your organization are creating in Amplitude. All charts, dashboards, and cohorts function as saved objects and all exist in the Search tab. Charts/dashboards are default sorted by a popularity metric that combines the number of views and their recency.
Table of Contents
Each chart, dashboard, and cohort will have an owner, which is the person who created the object. Under the ‘Filter by’ section you will find the Owners section. Here you will see the 10 most active users of your organisation showing up.
Just type in your own email address next to the search icon (under ‘Owners’) if you want to see the objects you created. You can also see see the discoverable objects created by other users in your organisation by typing in their email addresses.
It is possible to transfer ownership in the "More" icon on a chart, dashboard, or cohort. Once you transfer your ownership, you will no longer be able to make edits to the dashboard unless you are an admin or manager. However, you are able to propose chart additions to a dashboard. Here is more information.
You can mark objects you have ownership over as "Discoverable" or "Unlisted". Anything marked as "Discoverable" can be found by any other user in your organization. Anything marked as "Unlisted" can only be found by you and those with a direct link to the chart or dashboard. Discoverable objects have a green globe icon, while unlisted objects have a grayed out globe icon. You can change the discoverability of an object on that object's screen. You just need to leave the green icon on when you save your object.
Once you access your object you can click on “More” , on top of the page, to see if an object can be discovered by others or not.
The search bar can be used to quickly locate a chart, dashboard, or cohort by its title or owner. You will see the search engine icon in the top left hand side of the page, above the ‘New’ button.
Specific chart types
If you click on the search engine icon you will see a a search bar and an ‘Add Filter’ option on top of the page.
You can use the search bar to look for a specific chart, for example a funnel analysis chart you recently created. Just type in the key words for that specific chart in the box.
You can also look for a specific chart by using the ‘Add Filter’ button and selecting ‘chart’ on the right hand side. Once you do this you will see all your different types of charts on the left hand side. Select the one you are interested in by scrolling down or typing in a couple of key words in the search engine box. Additionally, you can look for specific cohorts, dashboards and notebooks.
Objects cannot be deleted directly and are instead archived so that they are marked as deprecated. To find your archived charts, click on the “Add filter’ icon and select ‘archived’. This is true for archived dashboards and cohorts as well.
To only search for dashboards that are unlisted, type in the search box "is:unlisted". If you are a manager or an admin, you are able to see all unlisted objects for the entire organization. For more information on user permissions, click here.
