The Funnel Analysis chart: an overview

  • Updated

Amplitude's Funnel Analysis chart gives you insight into how successfully users are navigating a defined event path in your product.

A funnel is a series of steps a user takes as part of the experience of using your product. Product managers often try to encourage users to navigate these funnels in order to demonstrate product value and to increase engagement. Amplitude considers a user to have converted through a step in the funnel if they fire the event in the order you've specified.

NOTE: You may also find this course in the Amplitude Academy helpful.

Users who don't convert have dropped off. Knowing which steps of your funnel are leading to user drop-off is often a critical tool in improving engagement and stickiness.

Some examples of common funnel analysis topics are:

  • Successful onboarding
  • Regular users becoming power users
  • Free users turning into paying users
